would be able to grab IP addresses via plain old Ethernet from a MoCA connected switch. I’m just wondering if other devices, such as my TV, TiVo Mini, gaming consoles, etc. I do know that the VMS1100 does get an IP address via the MoCA network and I believe it uses TCP/IP for both VoD and YouTube. Currently with the VMS1100 the coax is going into a coax cable drop from the wall to the STB.Ĭan I connect the coax currently going into my VMS 1100 into a splitter and connect one end into the box for TV (including all interactive features) and the other split into another Ethernet switch that has built-in MoCA and then run Ethernet from the rj-45 ports on the switch to my various network enabled devices? I know I wouldn’t get gigabit speeds, but if this is doable, I would get a more reliable connection than over Wi-Fi.

I am using a Quantum G1100 as my router to provide Wi-Fi and wired Ethernet Internet access and its built-in MoCA bridge for TV (VMS 1100 and a TiVo Roamio Pro with a cable card).
I have gigabit internet, which means the Ethernet port is activated on my ONT. As there is no such thing as a stupid question, this may be a naïve one.
